Open Events
The Commonwealth Fencing Open Championships is held every four years, in the same year as the Commonwealth Games, and is sanctioned by the Commonwealth Games Federation.
One of the objectives of the Commonwealth Fencing Federation is to have Fencing included in the Commonwealth Games, but at present the event is run independently.
Upcoming Championships
2010
The next Open Commonwealth Fencing Championships will be held in Melbourne, Australia, from 29 September to 5 October 2010.
The Commonwealth Veteran Championships will be run alongside the Open event for the first time ever – in the same venue, on the same days.See the official website for the event.
2014
Formal bids have not yet been called for the 2014 Commonwealth Fencing Open Championships. However, Scotland has indicated that they will be seeking to host the event at around the same time as the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
