The Commonwealth Fencing Federation holds a Congress/General Assembly every 4 years. Each member federation has a delegate, and observers are also most welcome to attend.

Minutes from previous congresses/councils

22 November 2007

Council was held in the offices of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Madrid, Spain. Significant items included:

  • Veterans' Commission to affiliate with CFF
  • Eligibility
  • Upcoming Championships:
    - 2009 Junior
    - 2009 Veteran
    - 2010 Open
    - 2014 Open
  • 2007 Commonwealth Veteran Championships

19 September 2006

Congress was held in Kings Hall, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Significant items included:

  • Affiliation category and fee structure
  • Rules, membership and proceedings of the Technical Commission
  • Provision of referees for CFF events
  • Changes to statutes in the interests of increasing CFF membership and clarifying a fencer’s eligibility as to which country he/she may represent
  • Results of survey concerning re-entry of Fencing to the Commonwealth Games
  • Commonwealth Junior Fencing Championships should continue, and be held on a 3 year cycle (reviewable) with the next event to be targeted for 2009
  • Call for Expressions of Interest in hosting the 2010 Commonwealth Fencing Championships

2nd December 2004

Congress was held in the office premises of FIE President Rene Roch, 17, rue Marguerite, 17eme arrondisement, Paris, France. Significant items included:

  • Welcome to Cyprus Fencing Federation, new member of the CFF
  • Commonwealth Championships 2006 - Belfast
  • Commonwealth Youth Championships
  • 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games
  • New Rules for Commonwealth Fencing Championships
  • Veterans' Commission

17th November 2002

Congress was held in the Sygna Room of the Capri Plaza Hotel, Newcastle, NSW, Australia. Significant items included:

  • Possibility of merging the organisation of the Commonwealth Veterans’ Championships with the CFC
  • Awards for Significant Performance.
  • Consideration of steps required to be once again included in the Commonwealth Games
