Fencing was included in the Commonwealth
Games from 1950 (when the event was still known as the British Empire
Games) through to 1970.
Although it was dropped from the Games in 1974, the Commonwealth
Fencing Federation maintains the tradition of competition between
Commonwealth fencing nations. This goal underlies all of the objectives
of the Federation.
The running of the Federation is governed by the Statutes
of the Commonwealth Fencing Federation.
Membership of the
Federation is open to national governing bodies of fencing in Commonwealth
countries.
A timeline of the history
of the Federation is also included on this website.
